Effect of climate change on groundwater contamination: nitrate dynamics

The aim of this research is the application of mathematical modeling (Hydrus 2D / 3D model), using as input data, climatic aspects treated to a region of maize production in the state of Illinois (USA), with the experimental area at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE)) in order to investigate the impact of climate change in the transport of solutes in soil (nitrate) and the search for a monitoring to avoid a consequent contamination of groundwater, in future scenarios.
